I live opposite the Gardens. Although a brick wall wouldn't be my choice of optimal view (trees and genuine gardens are what I prefer), I'm partial to the Art Deco details of the façade. The Gardens were built in 1931.

Here's the same window, photographed on July 10, 2011, after the glass had been replaced and the stone cleaned during the ongoing renovation of the Gardens into a multi-use facility: (1) classrooms for Ryerson University and (2) a Loblaws grocery store.
